Cookies and on-device storage

DateInOz uses two httpOnly cookies. oz_session keeps you signed in for 30 days. oz_device is a random identifier for this browser, used to spot related accounts that report in a pile. Neither cookie is read by advertising scripts in this build.

The colour theme, and whether you have postponed the install question or the alert question, are saved in local storage on your device. That storage is not sent to the server with each page.

If you add the site to your home screen, a service worker may cache the home page, the icons, and the coast drawing so the shell can open offline. Profiles, messages, and photos are still loaded from the server when you are online.

The ad choice sits in local storage under oz-ad-consent. Personalised means an ad network may remember this browser. Non-personalised means the slots still show, without that profile. Nothing is requested from the network until you choose. Sign-up, sign-in, and password reset do not carry ads.

The fuller explanation is in the privacy notice.
